GEO in short
GEO stands for generative engine optimisation. SEO helps you climb Google’s results list; GEO helps you get cited or recommended when an AI writes an answer. They don’t exclude each other: both start from a clear, well-built website.
Where AI engines get their information
An AI engine doesn’t “know” your company. It reads what it finds about you and pieces it together: your website, directory profiles, Google Business Profile, LinkedIn, reviews, public registries. If the information is thin or contradictory, the answer will be vague or leave you out.
What you can actually do
- Say clearly on your site who you are, what you do and where, with facts, not only slogans
- Answer the questions your customers ask, on your own site
- Add structured data, so engines easily understand your company and services
- Use the same name, address and description everywhere: site, Google, LinkedIn, directories
- Collect real reviews and, if you can, case studies
- Don’t block AI crawlers, and test monthly what they answer to questions in your field
What nobody can promise
Nobody can guarantee that ChatGPT will recommend you. You can raise the chances a lot, though, and most of the steps above also improve your presence on Google. If you want help with it, we have an SEO and GEO department.
